Parent with dependent children
Whether or not you are a parent with dependent children only affects your benefits if you have recently graduated.
You are eligible for the high benefit rate for new graduates of 82% when you have an obligation to support a dependent child.
You have a dependent child if you are a biological or adoptive father or mother of at least one child below the age of 18. You do not need to live with the child to have a legal responsibility to provide financially for the child.
However, you do not have an obligation to support bonus children you may have if you live with a person who has his or her own children.
If you are a Danish citizen or a citizen of another EEA country, your child must reside in Denmark or the other EEA country. If the child resides outside the EEA or in Greenland or on the Faroe Islands, you’ll receive benefits at the rate of 71.5%.
If you are not a citizen of an EEA country, your child must reside in Denmark.
